It's Tuesday - Time for a Book Linky

It's Tuesday, folks
and my school year
is officially in full swing.

With the kiddos arriving
in less than a week,
Deanna's book linky
is the perfect time to
take a break.

I have worked incredibly hard today,
so you'll not have to convince me
to relax just a moment.

Here we go...

The book that I selected for this week is a favorite of mine to read during the first
week of school.
It's just too sweet to make the children wait.

Amazon's review reads:

When Amos goes fishing he is caught by an amazing fish that takes him home

and puts him in a bowl of air for a pet.

The illustrations are simply inviting and the story line is easy to follow.
After sharing,
I generally follow up the story
with a conversation
about fact/fiction
and the kids can always provide
a number of examples
for each category.
Even on the first day.

Plus,
it has a variety of tier II vocabulary words
on which you could focus.
ordinary.  extraordinary.  trophy.  tattered.

If you're interested in a copy for your own classroom, you can find used copies HERE.

Now what book will YOU share?

Five for Friday

Happy Friday!
Another week is coming to a close
and I'm 3 days closer to the start of school.
Yikes!
Before I return to my
regular schedule, though...
it's the perfect time to link up with
Doodle Bugs Teaching
for

Let's get started!

I luv getting extra mileage out of clip art!
So... using THIS set from
Graphics From the Pond
I gave my spelling word display an overhaul.
Each week, I'll write the spelling words on the mice so they will be on display.

Another facelift project ...
This is the anchor chart I use the first week of school to teach one of the many procedures I want my kiddos to learn.
Be sure to wear your shades so the shocking yellow doesn't damage your retinas!

For Open House, my teacher friends and I
are planning a photo booth.
I've been busy creating speech bubbles to use as props...

My daughter and I made a dri-erase calendar
for her dorm room.
She moves in about 3 weeks.
*sniff*  *sniff*

And finally...

Like many others,
I'm having a sale this weekend.
Be sure to check out all the
Reading Street
units I have available.
You're sure to find something!

Enjoy your weekend, friends!

Deanna's Book Linky and a Give-Away

This week I'm linkin' once again
with Deanna Jump's
book linky.
This has been great fun, yet I have to be honest here... it has not been kind to my
Amazon account!
Geez!

This week I have an old favorite.
It's called...

Have you read it?

Amazon's description reads...

Natasha isn't really a bad girl.
It's just that she wants
to play on the swing now,
not after the wash has been hung up to dry.

And she wants her soup now,
not after the goats have been fed.

Looking after Natasha keeps Babushka, Natasha's grandmother, very busy.

Then, after lunch,
Natasha notices a doll
sitting on Babushka's shelf...
a doll Babushka tells Natasha she played with just once when she was a little girl.

When Natasha plays with the doll while Babushka goes to the store for groceries,

she discovers why once is enough with Babushka's doll.

She also discovers just how tiring it can be to take care of a child who wants everything now.

When her grandmother returns,
Natasha tearfully explains how she was so mistreated by the spoiled doll.
She vows that she does not have any desire to play with it again.
Once was certainly enough.

If you're interested in purchasing a copy for yourself, you can get it HERE.

Before I close for the evening
I have a freebie or two I'd like to share.

First,

This is ONE component I'm adding to my calendar routine this year.
It reinforces counting by 1's, 5's, and 10's.
Here's a quick picture for you...

I'll give away 3 copies.
Leave a comment with your email and I'll send it along to you shortly.

And if that's not enough...
this is a new product, too.

It's an author study based on the
following 3 books:
Curious George
Curious George Rides a Bike
Curious George Goes to the Hospital
and I'd love to share it with 3 people.

Simply leave a comment about your favorite author study and my dear hubby will select 3 winners in a few days.

Two for Tuesday and a Freebie!

It's week 5, friends
and I'm linkin' up with
summer linky party and
you're invited to play along, too!
Simply offer two products
at 50% for today only.
It's just that easy!

This week, I'm featuring one of my favorites.
It's called Watch Your Speed
and it's a behavioral management system
with which most littles can identify.
Sadly, I know I can!

This product is kinda-sorta
 like the clip charts
you've seen on Pinterest...
with one difference.

Instead of each kiddo moving a clip
from one color card to the next,
the kiddo manipulates a colored car in response to his/her choices.

You'll need a sheet of poster board and a library pocket for each student.
Assembly is required - but not much!
You can find this product HERE.
It's 50% off today only!

Secondly...
my district adopted
the Reading Street series(2008)
a few years ago.

The following product was developed over the course of the first year out of a need to practice the high-frequency words introduced
with each story.

It features a card game to reinforce the high frequency words
for every story
for the ENTIRE year.

Honestly, my own kiddos play it daily
(year after year)
and they never seem to tire of it.

This product also includes a vocabulary card for every high frequency word.
Here you'll see the high frequency words for
Sam, Come Back
and
Pig in a Wig.
The clipart images also help you remember to which story it belongs!
You can get this product HERE.
It's 50% off today only!

Finally,
if you've stayed with me this long...
I have a freebie for you.

My original grading scale
(something my district requires)
was old... and tired.
It got a much needed make-over this week.

If you would like a copy,
you can check it out HERE.

If you would consider it,
please give me a

right HERE!
I'd love to hear from you!

Enjoy your Tuesday!
