Let's Get Shopping!

Shh!  If you must talk,
be as quiet as a mouse.
Dear 'ole hubby is sound asleep while I burn the midnight oil preparing for a
site-wide sale at TPT!
The doors open at midnight
so I've got to be ready!

Here's a little sample of products that will be available
from my own store...
This product is a fun display for tracking those AR points!
I expect even the most reluctant readers
will want to be BEASTS!

Or...
maybe you're in need of writing prompts?
My own little friends love these to pieces!

Perhaps...
you want to get a head start on a science unit perfectly suited
for the month of October?

This product is available, too!
It's a number sense game my own friends will enjoy as early as...
NEXT WEEK!

I'll also have a new behavioral management product in my store.
It's called
and its theme is one in which most children can identify.

In fact... my own sweet teenager understands this management system very well, in fact.  She saw the
"make bad choices - get in trouble"
theory unfold before her very eyes.
That's because she happened to be with me when Mr. New Recruit Trooper felt the need to reward me with a second ticket
in less than one month!
I mean, REALLY?!
It saddens me to say
we're on a first name basis now.

He didn't try to understand,
nor was he concerned,
that it was a Friday afternoon and I was able to leave school before 6:00 that night!

He clearly didn't care either that I had just consumed two candy bars and one soda!
I tried to explain that the windows were down, the wind was in my hair, and my baby girl and I were singing
White Wedding Day
at the tops of our lungs!
I'm thinking all that caffeine must have gone straight to my foot,
but it no longer matters.

Mr. New Recruit Trooper wasn't receptive to anything I said and eventually...
I just stopped talking altogether.
I'm thinking that's probably
what I should do now.

Anyway... lots of my products are on sale tomorrow and Monday!

It's Time...

I'm disappointed to report that
it's that time of the year once again.
It seems to arrive every summer at about this same time and as much as I believe at the end of May
that I will NOT experience it this year...
(not this year!)
I can't seem to escape the fact that I'm bored with summer.
   (What?!)
You see, this summer has been a LOT of fun.
I've had lunch at my favorite restaurants with old friends, enjoyed late night movies with my children, visits with my parents, and early morning coffee with my dear hubby.  Yeah, the last six weeks have been so relaxing however, I'm ready for the structured part of life to return
 (the part that loves routine!).
Isn't that just pitiful?!

So now my carefree days have been reduced to
 menial tasks like...
 cleaning the refrigerator,
(No, contrary to what you might have heard, the health department did NOT leave a flyer on my door allowing me an additional week to address this matter.)
organizing the linen closet, and
cleaning out closets.
This has simply got to stop.
Can anyone else relate?

One other matter...
About the only element of fun I've had in the last few days has been developing this card game that I'll introduce during the first few weeks of school.  It develops number sense, addresses the common core, and it's just plain fun, too.

Number Sense Fun

  Ordinarily, I avoid shopping.
Whether it's for clothes, shoes, groceries, or begonias...
it really doesn't matter in the least.
It's simply not my idea of fun.
Strange, huh?

That pattern changed for me last week, though.
My daughter and I drove over to our local
Hobby Lobby where I found these
adorable foam stickers and
I immediately thought of a use for them, too.
That almost never happens for me.  Not.at.all.

This will be a fun number sense game for the number five.
To prepare: remove the backing from one basketball sticker and one soccer (or baseball) sticker.  Stick'em together and you've now got
a two-sided foam counter.  Toss them in the air as high as you'd like because they're not going to make any noise!  Then record the
combinations of five on your recording sheet.

Click on the picture to get your copy.

These foam stickers are also available at Oriental Trading
and a variety of other places on the internet
if you don't have a Hobby Lobby in your area.

Please consider leaving a comment.
I need suggestions on what to do with the silly football stickers!

Number Sense

I have officially survived my second week of school.  It's been super busy with new procedures, a review of kindergarten skills, conversations about kindness and lots of restroom breaks.   Somehow though, even with all the interruptions, I have managed to toss in a few lessons related to number sense.  Just for free!

Here's a little booklet I created to help my friends remember we can show numbers in lots of different ways.
Isn't this sweet baby's work just precious?!
So, so neat.
If you're planning to do something similar and would like to save some time,
you can click here to download my number sense booklet.
Please consider leaving a comment if you find it useful.
I'd love to hear from you!
